Just A Sample Of A New Poem

meanwhile
the appeasement continues

in the dark center of silver
the live elephant
its left loin stolen
searches for the traipsed
river of oblivion

and
under the shade
of your decadent tongue
silence follows silence

22

in the small wound

dark velvet
blonde eyes
sacrificed wrists

I know that children
die of starvation

and the occurrence
of death
is but a tiny
explosion of dreams

inside the mouth’s marble
a blade of light
thrashing cement
a violent vomit
electrifying genius

many times
I’ve been afraid

of geraniums
and orange grass
of tall salamanders
and silver veins

remember that silence
tumbles in the numbness
of silence
that night is murdered
eventually
that Oaxacan artistry
is engulfed in mystery

it is unjust
to drag
the heart
of rhinoceros
across lonely
streams of
orchid
but it is
more painful
to watch
the blossoms
of cold
sunburned iris
